Promises, especially political promises, are easy to make and easy to break.
With the 2021 snap federal election into its second week we are, as expected, seeing many promises from all political parties. Promises that we all hope the winning party will keep if they are elected.
There is, of course, no way to accurately predict the future and which politician or party will keep the promises they make. But one easy way to get a sense of trustworthiness of the incumbent government is to look back at how well they kept the promises they made during the last election campaign.
As the CBC reports, the Liberals have just announced huge amounts of money for health care, if they are re-elected of course. What is interesting is that much of this money was already promised as part of their last federal election campaign in 2019 but little appears to have been done since the Liberals made that promise.
All of this begs the question: if the Liberals promised money almost two years ago and have done little to keep that promise, will they follow through this time around?
What do you think? Do you think this is a promise kept? Promise in-progress? If it is the latter, do you think they will live up to this promise, or any others, if they are re-elected?
