The six largest, federally regulated banks in Canada:
- Royal Bank of Canada (RBC);
- Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD);
- Bank of Montreal (BMO);
- Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC);
- Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank); and
- National Bank of Canada.
Until fairly recently, it was most common to simply refer to this group as the Big Five (without the National Bank of Canada), but it is now much more common to include National Bank, so we will refer to the group as the Big Six.
